Tom Wentzel’s career path has taken him from the technical side of the HR world to business development at Oberon. Tom began his career with a big six accounting firm, where he spent more than seven years as a pension actuary — long enough to learn that he wanted to broaden his horizons and focus more on the relationship side of the consulting business. “I enjoyed dealing with clients —developing and managing relationships,” he says.

A move to a global HR consulting and administration firm brought Tom a wider range of experience. “I was already deep in retirement expertise,” he says. “In my new role, I focused primarily on mergers and acquisitions, which exposed me to most every HR-related issue there is.” To add sales and client management experience, Tom joined another global HR consulting firm, where his role focused on developing and strengthening client relationships.

Looking to leverage 16 years of experience with big consulting companies, Tom found an ideal opportunity with Oberon to expand his impact in the HR community. “The successful model created by SALO in the finance world translates well to HR.
